Excellence & Experience

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Melanie works with individual clients aged 16 and over. She uses an integrative approach which is tailored to the unique needs of her clients. Her collaborative approach to therapy is trauma informed, client-centered and non-judgmental. Melanie is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and she incorporates Mindfulness into her practise.
Melanie brings 20 years of frontline policing to her work at Ottawa Psychotherapy Services. This experience has given her insight into high-pressure, high-stress environments that first responders and veterans experience due to their unique nature of their work. She is also a military veteran spouse and is familiar with the unique dynamics and the impacts on families that are serving our country. She is passionate about helping these communities and has a keen interest in working with clients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Melanie will complete her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University in April 2025. She provides services in both English and French.
